Governing Board Meeting Tomorrow (Tuesday)

Budget day

The Yavapai College District Governing Board will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at 1 p.m.  The meeting will take place on the Prescott Campus,  Building 3, Room 119, 1100 E Sheldon, Prescott, Arizona.

The first two portions of the meeting are devoted to adoption of the 2016-17 budget. The third portion is the general Board meeting. The meeting is expected to run until 4:30.

The public is invited to attend the meeting.

Governing Board meeting on Verde next Tuesday

District Governing Board meeting on Verde Campus,Tuesday, March 1, 2016, 1 p.m.

The regular Board meeting of the Yavapai College District Governing Board will take place on the Verde Campus Tuesday, March 1, 2016. 

REMINDERThe meeting begins at 1 p.m. and will be held in Building “M”, room 137.  The Verde Campus is located at 601 Black Hills Rd, Clarkdale, Arizona. 

The public is invited to attend.  A member of the public may address the Board on any topic for three minutes during the call to the public portion of the meeting.

Early morning budget workshop to be followed by general meeting

MEETING NOTICE 1The Yavapai College District Governing Board will hold a District Governing Board Budget Workshop on Tuesday, February 9 beginning at 9:30 a.m. 

It will be held at the Rockhouse, Prescott Campus, 1100 E. Sheldon Street, Prescott , AZ 86301.  The session, which may take up all of the morning, is devoted to a review of Yavapai College’s 2016-17 Preliminary Budget.  

The Governing Board will reconvene for its regular Board meeting that afternoon at the Rockhouse.  The regular Board meeting begins at 1:00 p.m. and is scheduled to run until a little after 5 p.m.

There is a call to the public where citizens may express their views on any subject at the outset of the regular Board meeting.  Normally, citizens are restricted to speaking for not more than three minutes.

All meetings are open to the public. All citizens are encouraged to attend and speak to their representatives about their concerns.  A Call to The Public is held at the beginning of the meeting. During the Call  each individual in the audience may speak for three minutes. To do this a card must filled out prior to meeting and given to the Board secretary.  Cards are available at the door. Residents may usually discuss individual matters privately with a Board member  before the meeting. 

At the beginning of the meeting the newly appointed  Verde Valley Board Advisory Committee, chaired by Mr. Paul Chevalier,  will address the Governing Board about the Committee’s findings and recommendations.  The role of this Committee is of enormous importance to post secondary education in the Verde Valley and residents may wish to stay to hear this report.

Visions for Yavapai College’s Sedona Facility

OLLI takes lead in opening discussion about the future of the Sedona Center for Arts and Technology Wednesday, October 1, 12:30 

The first fall session of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute’s (OLLI’s) “Lunch & Learn” program will be devoted to discussing issues related to community college education in the Verde Valley. The program, free and open to the public, will be held Wednesday, Oct. 1, 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in room 34 of the Sedona Center (across Rte. 89A from Red Rock High School).Event 5

Guests are invited to bring their lunch or come for complimentary coffee, tea, water and a little snack. An informal discussion begins at 12:30 p.m., followed by speaker presentations starting at 1 p.m. The session is titled “Moving Forward: Visions for Yavapai College’s Sedona Center.” The discussion is related to Yavapai College’s formation of a committee to provide ideas for community college education in the Verde Valley. The committee will include representatives from Sedona, and the Oct. 1 program is intended to identify ideas that Sedona’s representatives might bring to the committee.

Brief presentations, followed by discussions, will be made by: Rob Adams, City of Sedona mayor; Linda Buchanan, community education coordinator on the Verde Valley Campus; Dave Lykins, superintendent of Sedona-Oak Creek Unified School District; James Perey, executive dean of the Yavapai College Verde Valley Campus; Mike Raber, City of Sedona senior planner and chair of Western Gateway Community Focus Area Work Group; Robin Weeks, OLLI director/coordinator; Jennifer Wesselhoff, president/CEO of the Sedona Chamber of Commerce; and Ruth Wicks, Verde Valley Community College advisory committee member.

Verde Valley Community College Citizen Advocates meeting

Yavapai-Apache Nation lodge selected for September meeting

MEETING NOTICE 1The next meeting of the Verde Valley Community College Citizens Advocates will be held Wednesday, September 3, 2014 from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.  The meeting will be held at the Yavapai-Apache Lodge (below Cliff Castle Casino), 333 Middle Verde Road, Camp Verde, Arizona 86322. The meeting will be in the Camp Verde/Cottonwood Ballroom.

Mr. Steve DeVol will be premiering his video on Yavapai College and the creation of the independent administration in the Verde Valley. The meeting is open to the public. If you want more information, you may call 928-300-9270.
